Markerless Motion Capture from Monocular Videos

چکیده
We present a method to determine the 3D spatial locations of joints of a human body from a monocular video sequence of a Bharatanatyam dance. The proposed method uses domain specific knowledge to track major joints of the human in motion from the two dimensional input data. We then make use of various physical and motion constraints regarding the human body to construct a set of feasible 3D poses. A heuristic based method is used to find an optimal sequence of feasible poses that represents the original motion in the video.

Towards Accurate Markerless Human Shape and Pose Estimation over Time
Existing markerless motion capture methods often assume known backgrounds, static cameras, and sequence specific motion priors, limiting their application scenarios. Here we present a fully automatic method that, given multi-view videos, estimates 3D human pose and body shape. We take the recently proposed SMPLify method [12] as the base method and extend it in several ways. First we fit a 3D h...
متن کاملMarkerless Motion Capture from Single or Multi-Camera Video Sequence
The modeling of human characters consists of two distinguished processes, namely the definition of 3D shape and 3D movement of the body. To achieve realism, both shape and motion information should be acquired from real persons. The two procedures are usually considered separately, by using full body scanners and motion capture systems. In this paper, we report about deterministic methods devel...
متن کاملMarkerless Motion Capture using multiple Color-Depth Sensors
With the advent of the Microsoft Kinect, renewed focus has been put on monocular depth-based motion capturing. However, this approach is limited in that an actor has to move facing the camera. Due to the active light nature of the sensor, no more than one device has been used for motion capturing so far. In effect, any pose estimation must fail for poses occluded to the depth camera. Our work i...
متن کاملComparison of Markerless and Marker-Based Motion Capture Technologies through Simultaneous Data Collection during Gait: Proof of Concept
During the last decade markerless motion capture techniques have gained an increasing interest in the biomechanics community. In the clinical field, however, the application of markerless techniques is still debated. This is mainly due to a limited number of papers dedicated to the comparison with the state of the art of marker based motion capture, in term of repeatability of the three dimensi...
متن کاملStatistical Gesture Models for 3D Motion Capture
Monocular video based markerless 3D motion capture has the intrinsic limitation of poor precision and robustness. Many conditions like occlusions, image blur, poor image resolution, depth ambiguities etc. often confuse the tracker. In this paper, we propose using statistical gesture models as guides to constrain and disambiguate 3D tracking for a set of human motions. A set of example gestures ...
